Five of the stamps are being issued in sheetlet form, with art by Shuster, Wayne Boring, Neal Adams, Jim Lee, and Kenneth Rocafort representing various eras.
The sixth stamp uses John Byrne's version of the iconic shot of Clark Kent ripping open his shirt to reveal the Superman costume beneath.
Longtime fans of the Man of Steel will quickly note that a particular artist, whose rendition of Superman was considered the classic for more than twenty-five years, is left out of this collection. Where, Canada Post officials, is Superman by Curt Swan?
I was about to comment, "Must... have...!" until I noticed that there was no Curt Swan stamp. At least they used his art for Superman (and Aquaman!) in the US DC Heroes commemorative set.
ReplyDeleteThe article I read said that the stamps would only be available for ordering to people with Canadian mailing addresses, due to "licensing restrictions." It did not elaborate who put those restrictions in place or why.
